Predjama Castle is one of the most famous in Slovenia, attracting thousands of tourists every year. Situated on the edge of Predjama village, this fortress - built at a cave entrance - is not at all a common fortification.

This archaic castle does not have crenellated towers, sumptuous interior decorations or refined details, but it is a special place in other ways. The first thing that catches your eye is the location of the building.

Looking at it from the front, the visitor might think that this building merges with the mountain at the base of which it is located, and the contrast between the blackened rocks and the white walls of the castle increases the feeling that the space is unreal.

The castle was owned by several aristocratic families. By far the most famous of all remains Erazem Lueger, the baron-robber who owned the castle in the second half of the 15th century.

In 1986, the movie "Armour of God" was shot at Predjama Castle, starring Jackie Chan. Currently, various cultural events are organized here.
