Multiple rental properties, it has become clear in recent years, are not meeting the requirements of a new generation of tenants. Co-living properties are purpose-built homes with features that increase privacy, such as individual rooms with their own bathrooms and other private spaces (such as private lockable pantries) in what would otherwise be a standard two, three, or four-bedroom modern house.

In this way, a single tenant or couple in a co-living property gets the best of both worlds: privacy when they want it, a built-in social group, and ongoing support from housemates, with the added benefit of no owner or landlord living on the premises.
