Alopecia Areata, a disorder that causes permanent hair loss, is distinct from telogen effluvium, more widely known as transient hair loss. It happens as a result of a stressful experience, stress, or shock. The top of the scalp is impacted when there is transient hair loss. Typically, a significant amount of hair falls out, the hair loss stops, and new hair grows in. If a patient has had frequent hair loss for more than six months, that person is said to have chronic telogen effluvium.
